Registration is now open for the Colorado River Water Users Association 2022 Conference from December 14-16, 2022 in Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace. Register and book your room.
There is a lot going on in the Colorado River Basin this year, conference goers will hear from many state, local, and federal officials, along with conservationists and the Ten Tribes Partnership. No one wants to ever talk about “Dead Pool” but the two largest reservoirs in the U.S. — Lake Mead and Lake Powell — could decline precipitously without decisive action on the part of the big diverters in the basin.
Coincidentally, 2022 is the 100th anniversary of the Colorado River Compact that forms the basis for the “Law of the River” or basic governance. The future of the Compact and a retrospective of how it has stood the of time will be discussed.
The effects of Climate Change on the hydrology of the river will also be front and center. Depleted soil moisture, increased surface water evaporation, and plant evaporation, due to warmer temperatures, are affecting streamflow basin-wide.
Past attendees are in agreement that the networking opportunities are unmatched by other conferences.
We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas. — CRWUA
