For her entire career, Margaret J. Vick worked with and advised Native American Tribes and tribal organizations in the Western United States on cross jurisdictional matters with a focus on water resources and water rights. Margaret holds a doctorate in juridical sciences in the law of international water resources and has advised foreign governments about shared water resources through USAID and United Nations programs. She lived and worked for a year as an imbedded advisor to the Ministry of Energy and Water within the Government of Afghanistan.
Margaret currently teaches the Law of International Water Resources in the online Master of Science in Law program at University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. She has served on numerous advisory boards and committees and is a frequent writer and speaker on Colorado River issues. She served for more than nine years as special counsel for water matters to the Colorado River Indian Tribes prior to her retirement from private practice in the summer of 2023.
