Adriana Reséndez – Mexican Section, International Boundary and Water Commission

Say hello to Adriana Reséndez. On September 15, 2021, she was named the new head of the Mexican Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission, United States and Mexico (IBWC).

Engineer Reséndez has 23 years of experience at the IBWC in the areas of Operation and Engineering, as Principal Engineer of Operations and as Deputy Director of the Colorado River in the Engineering Division. During her career at this agency, she has participated in the negotiation of various Commission Minutes, as well as in inter-agency and binational coordination for the development of projects of great relevance in the border region.

Reséndez has her master’s degree in Hydraulic Resources in Arid Regions –with a focus on water quality and use– from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, where she also did her undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering, for which she received recognition for graduating first in her class. Reséndez is the first woman to serve as the head of the Mexican Section of the IBWC.
